Adoption FAQ

Look for your questions about adoption in the list below, and if it’s not there, give us a call at (630) 469-7400.

How much does adoption cost?

Please call us at (630) 469-7400 to ask us about our adoption fee. Keep in mind you’ll also need to purchase a rabies tag and at least six months of heartworm prevention at the time of adoption. Remember as well that while your new pet will be up to date on their vaccinations, any subsequent vaccinations post-adoption are your responsibility.

Do you put pets down if they're not adopted in a certain amount of time? How long do you keep pets at your facility?

We keep the animals that are brought to us until they find homes, no matter how long it takes. The only exception is if they are seriously ill and their quality of life is considered unacceptable by a veterinarian.

What do you know about the breed and health history of your pets?

Unfortunately, since many of them come to us as strays, we know very little about their parents, breed, or health history. We use our expertise and best judgment to make an educated guess on the breed, and always perform extensive health checks to ensure their well-being.
